Stringing Pearls
Couture stringing service available. From seed pearls to baroque, from one strand to too many strands!
Pearls possess a quiet radiance unlike any other gemstone. Formed organically, they are inherently delicate and should be treated with thoughtful attention.
Fragrance, cosmetics, and chemicals can compromise their lustre; therefore, pearls should be the final adornment you put on and the first you remove. Avoid prolonged contact with water, and never subject pearls to ultrasonic or harsh cleaning methods.
After wearing, gently wipe them with a soft, dry cloth to maintain their natural glow. Store pearls separately from harder gemstones to prevent surface marking, ideally within a soft pouch.
When strung on silk, pearl necklaces and bracelets will, over time, require restringing to preserve both their strength and graceful drape. As a general guide, frequently worn pieces should be restrung annually, while those worn more occasionally can be restrung every two to three years. Signs such as stretching, gaps between pearls, or discolouration of the thread indicate it is time for renewal.
Each pearl is traditionally hand-knotted on silk, allowing the strand to drape fluidly while preventing the pearls from rubbing against one another and protecting their delicate surfaces. In the unlikely event of a break, the knots also help to keep the pearls secure.
Their beauty is subtle, and with considered care, enduring.
