Care Notes

Fine jewellery is designed to be worn, treasured, and passed through generations. Each JCJ Bespoke piece is crafted with precision and intention, and with considered care, its beauty will endure for a lifetime.

We recommend periodic inspections to ensure that settings remain secure and stones are perfectly seated. Gentle professional cleaning, polishing, and, where required, re-plating will help preserve the longevity and brilliance of your piece. Fine jewellery is an investment, and thoughtful care protects both its appearance and value.

Should your JCJ Bespoke piece require attention, we are always pleased to assist. Our commitment to craftsmanship extends far beyond the moment of purchase — it is a promise of enduring beauty.

  • To preserve the integrity and beauty of your jewellery, we recommend periodic inspections to ensure settings remain secure and stones perfectly seated. Gentle professional cleaning, polishing and, where required, re-plating will help maintain its original brilliance over time.

As part of our commitment to you, each JCJ Bespoke client receives one complimentary check-up which included a stone check and polish also one ring resizing if needed within the first year of purchase. This ensures your piece fits perfectly and continues to feel as exceptional as the day it was created.

Fine jewellery is an investment in craftsmanship and sentiment. With thoughtful care and occasional expert attention, it will remain a lasting expression of both.

  • A diamond is chosen for its fire and enduring strength — a symbol of permanence. While it is the hardest of natural gemstones, it should still be worn with care. A sharp impact may compromise a setting or, in rare cases, chip the stone.

With time, diamonds naturally attract the subtle traces of daily wear — skin oils, fragrance and fine particles — which can soften their brilliance. Gentle cleansing in warm water with a mild soap and a soft brush will restore their light. Particular attention should be given to the setting, where residue can gather unseen.

We recommend periodic inspections to ensure claws remain secure and the stone perfectly seated. A diamond’s beauty lies not only in its sparkle, but in the care taken to preserve it.

  • Pearls possess a quiet radiance unlike any other gemstone. Formed organically, they are inherently delicate and should be treated with thoughtful attention.

Fragrance, cosmetics and chemicals can compromise their lustre, therefore pearls should be the final adornment you put on and the first you remove. Avoid prolonged contact with water, and never subject pearls to ultrasonic or harsh cleaning methods.

After wearing, gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth to maintain their natural glow. Store separately from harder gemstones to prevent surface marking, ideally within a soft pouch. With time, pearl strands may require restringing to preserve both their security and graceful drape.

Their beauty is subtle, and with considered care, enduring.

  • Each gemstone carries its own character, colour, and energy, making every piece truly unique. While precious and beautiful, gemstones vary in hardness and resilience, and many require thoughtful handling to preserve their brilliance. Even the most durable stones can be affected by impact, heat, or exposure to chemicals.

Gentle cleaning with warm water and mild soap, using a soft brush where needed, will help maintain their natural radiance. Softer stones — such as emeralds, opals, or turquoise — are particularly delicate and benefit from extra care, avoiding prolonged moisture or abrasive contact.

At JCJ, we recognise that every gemstone is singular. For this reason, each bespoke client receives a personalised gemstone care note with their purchase, tailored to the specific qualities and needs of their stone. This ensures that your piece remains as luminous and exceptional as the day it was created.

  • Gold, whether 9ct, 14ct or 18ct, is naturally soft and may develop delicate surface marks over time. These are part of its character and reflect a life well worn. To maintain its radiance, gently cleanse your piece in warm water with a mild soap and a soft brush, then dry thoroughly with a lint-free cloth. White gold is finished with rhodium to enhance its brightness; periodic re-plating may be required to restore its luminous white finish.

  • Platinum is valued for its strength and density. With wear, it develops a soft patina — a subtle satin sheen that many appreciate as part of its character. Should you prefer a high polish, professional refinishing will restore its original brilliance while maintaining the integrity of the metal. Due to its durability, platinum holds stones securely, though regular inspections are still recommended.
