Gold & platinum carries a long history and many possible journeys before it becomes part of a finished piece. For this reason, we offer our clients a choice between recycled gold and by request Fairtrade Gold, allowing you to select the source that best reflects your values.

Recycled Gold & platinum 

Recycled gold & platinum is material that already exists in circulation — often from jewellery, investment bullion, or technological components — which has been refined and returned to use.

Because it does not require new extraction from the earth, recycled gold & platinum generally has a significantly lower environmental footprint, reducing the energy use, carbon emissions, and land impact associated with mining.

These metals can be refined and reused indefinitely without losing its quality or beauty. Most of the gold and platinum ever mined remains in circulation today, making recycling an important way to extend the life of this precious material.

While recycled gold & platinum offers strong environmental advantages, it is typically refined before entering the supply chain, meaning it may not always be traceable to a specific original source.

Fairtrade Gold

Fairtrade gold is sourced from artisanal and small-scale mining organisations that meet internationally recognised Fairtrade standards.

By requesting Fairtrade gold, you help support:

• fair payment and improved livelihoods for miners

• safer, regulated working conditions

• the strict prohibition of child labour

• stronger environmental protections

In addition, a Fairtrade premium is paid directly to mining communities, enabling investment in vital local projects such as education, healthcare, and environmental restoration.

Although it is newly mined, choosing Fairtrade gold is a way to actively support responsible mining practices—ensuring dignity, accountability, and meaningful benefits for the communities involved.
