18ct Yellow Gold Signet Ring Housing the Birthstone Colour Change Alexandrite.

Crafted in 18ct yellow gold, this bespoke signet ring was designed to celebrate Matthew’s coming of age. A deeply personal piece that honours both heritage and individuality.

Commissioned by his mother, the design process began with Matthew’s vision: a bold, chunky signet ring featuring his family crest, reimagined with a contemporary edge. Bringing along an image of the original crest, Matthew worked closely with JCJ to refine its aesthetic. We reinterpreted the detailing with a cleaner, more linear and confident font, elevating the design while preserving its legacy. To enhance this modern approach, the crest was precision laser-engraved, offering a crisp and striking finish.

To further commemorate this milestone, we introduced a meaningful detail—Matthew’s birthstone, Alexandrite. Renowned for its captivating colour-changing properties, the stone shifts from a rich teal in daylight to a deep, regal purple under evening light. Rather than placing it traditionally, we set the alexandrite along the side of the ring, allowing it to catch the light and reveal its beauty while worn.

The final piece is a powerful fusion of past and present. A timeless heirloom redefined through a modern lens and a true reflection of Matthew’s story, style and identity.
